Kwantu Monitoring and Evaluation software

Hosted web portals
Kwantu and Nexus sites are managed by a social networking based portal to manage its services and applications. Using a portal environment ensures a streamlined approach to access control and provides procedures for running multiple applications and databases.
Portlets are small applications hosted in the portal. The functionality presented on a particular page can be adjusted by adding, moving or removing portlets.
A profile is created for a user when he or she signs up. When a user creates a group, a profile is also created for such group; the user that created it becomes the profile owner.
Other users can follow or join group profiles. In Kwantu, the groups concept is used to manage projects. The project manager creates a group profile and invites project officers to join that profile.
On Nexus sites, group profiles assume their typical use. Such groups and content hosted on their pages can be either public, restricted or private.
Projects and process flows
When creating a project profile, the Project Management application is made available on its pages. The application is configured to follow a particular process flow. A process flow is a defined set of business processes and rules which is adhered to during the project life-cycle.
Forms
Project data is captured on forms for M&E purposes. Such forms are broken down into application components, dealing with project information and measurement indicators. The aspects covered include:
- Duration and location
- Ownership and implementation
- How funding is applied
- Milestones and outputs/deliverables
- Employment figures and measures
- Planned vs actual figures for the above
- Application components are saved independently. Once all application components on a particular form have been completed, the form can be submitted forwarded for the authoriser's attention. An e-mail notifications service is also integrated into project management.
Beneficiaries application
The beneficiaries application manages project beneficiaries information and payment data for labour intensive job creation projects.
Reporting
By using the Reporting application, queries can be directed at the business intelligence (BI) tool from inside the portal (no need for regular users to navigate around the BI tools)
