A conference on evaluation and development is to take place in San José, Costa Rica, from 15 to 17 July. Supported by FOCEVAL, the event is being organised in the framework of cooperation between Universidad de Costa Rica and Saarland University, a collaboration funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst; DAAD). Marking the International Year of Evaluation 2015, the conference will focus on the question of "The contribution of evaluation to Latin American development – dialogue between policymaking and evaluation". The interuniversity partnership involves a close exchange of ideas and information with FOCEVAL, an ECD project implemented by DEval in the region.
It is in this connection that four pre-conference workshops will be offered on 14 July 2015, dealing with the following topics:
• Promoting the use of evaluations from a management perspective, led by Juan Carlos Sanz (DEval), workshop language: Spanish
• Theoretical foundations of evaluation, led by Sarah Klier (DEval) and Andrea Meneses (FOCEVAL), workshop language: Spanish
• Evaluation with a focus on gender equality and human rights, led by Laura González (UN Women), workshop language: Spanish
• Evaluation designs, led by Wolfgang Meyer (CEval), workshop language: English
